
Blithe Spirit is probably the best known, and best loved, of all Noel Coward's many plays. It was first produced at the Opera House, Manchester, in June 1941, and later transferred to the Piccadilly Theatre, London, where, with a magnificent cast including Fay Compton, Cecil Parker, Kay Hammond and Margaret Rutherford. It had a long and highly successful run. Since then, Blithe Spirit has been performed countless times by professional and amateur companies, and entertained audiences in theatres large and small throughout the world.
