Denise Deegan's spoof of the old Angela Brazil 1920s schoolgirl stories ... plucky elementary schoolgirl Daisy wins a place at snooty Grangewood School, where she eventually wins through and finds the treasure that saves the school, despite the best efforts of snobby Sybil and her toadying sidekick Monica.
This was one of LyneUp's most successful ever plays, with a cast of teachers and schoolgirls ranging from 11 year old Jasmine to ... well, quite a bit older than most schoolgirls! The authentic 1920s gymslips and boaters looked wonderful, and the audience loved such highlights as the frantic hockey match and the clifftop rescue scene, amid howling wind and thunder and lightning.
It was also the first time that LyneUp tried a new layout of the hall, with the action taking place on the floor and the audience on a tiered grandstand, complete with schoolchildren selling sweeties from the tuckshop during the interval.
