Pentland Concerts - jazz duo - Chick Lyall and Rob Hall - Saturday 11th December, Carlops Hall 7.30pm

The weather looks like it is going to relent, temporarily at least, over the weekend so we are confident that the planned jazz concert will go ahead on Saturday.  However, parking at Carlops may be tricky, so please give us a call if you would like a lift - 661192 or 660829.

The survey we conducted told us you want to hear more jazz – well, here it is, and who better than Rob Hall and Chick Lyall (saxophone and piano) to answer the call. The duo is building a terrific reputation on the Scottish and UK jazz scene. Chick has been hailed as the ‘most adventurous Scottish (jazz) pianist of the current generation’ by the Penguin Guide to Jazz. Rob has been given great reviews in the Guardian and elsewhere. The concert will mix Chick and Rob’s own largely lyrical compositions, modern but accessible to the ear, with re-workings of jazz standards.
