The Snow Queen

Once upon a time, there was a wicked Snow Queen, who lived in a palace of ice. She had a magic mirror made by trolls that made good things look ugly and ugly things even more ugly, but one day the mirror broke and the tiny pieces blew all around the world. Two tiny splinters stuck in the eye and heart of a little boy called Kai, who became cruel and nasty and no longer cared for his friend Gerda.

One day the Snow Queen takes Kai away to her ice palace. Gerda is heartbroken and decides to search for him. One of the first people she meets is an Enchantress who is so lonely that she casts a spell on Gerda to make her forget Kai and stay with her. She is saved from the Enchantress by a Wild Crow, who accompanies her to the palace of the Princess and Prince, who are getting married.

The Crow helps Gerda travel to Lapland, although on their travels they are captured by a band of robbers. The Robber Girl likes Gerda and decides to let her escape, along with the Reindeer, who knows the North Pole very well. Gerda, the Crow and the Reindeer finally find the ice palace, with the help of a Lapp Woman and a Finn Woman along the way.

At the Snow Queen’s palace, Gerda finds her friend Kai and because her love and loyalty is so strong, she melts the icy splinters of mirror in his eye and heart. After a great battle between the Snow Queen’s ice goblins and the guardian angels that care for Gerda and Kay, the force of good conquers evil and the friends escape back to their home, reunited at last.
