Village Show Report
29th August 2009
The West Linton Village Show was again run under the auspices of the West Linton Horticultural Society and the local federation of the SWRI.
Despite having suffered from a very wet August the show was very well supported and attended by the villagers and the exhibitors provided an excellent spectacle for the visitors.
The Flower Sections had the hardest time with the weather but quality was still very good and there were many fine examples on show. The weather did not seem to affect the Vegetable growers which saw the largest and best display of produce seen for many years. The influence of the SWRI was clear in the closely contested Cookery and Handicraft Sections which were well up to strength. A feature of the show has always been the Schools Potato growing where pupils are given a seed potato and a pot and then bring the result along to the show to be weighed. An entry of well over eighty pots ensured a busy afternoon as the contents were harvested and weighed.
