Tourist Guide to West Linton in the Scottish Borders

The WEST LINTON AREA TOURIST GROUP

After being in operation for 12 years the committee of the West Linton Area Tourist Group (set up to promote the village through it's main themes of walks, golf, riding and cycling) decided to wind it up.

It was felt unanimously that the aims of the group had been fulfilled, and it became impossible to recruit new members for the last committee. It has been rewarding to see so much support for the group over the years (45 members was our best) and in 2003 it was gratifying to be selected by the Scottish Borders Tourist Board to be upgraded to mini information point status.

West Linton has played a leading role in the Borders Walking Festivals (including hosting the first).

To end on a positive note, we move on to 'bigger things' under the guidance of Catherine Maxwell Stuart, a new group for the region has been established (Tweeddale Tourist Consortia, www.visittweeddale.com) and an agreement has been reached to continue to promote the West Linton area through this site. All former members have also been invited to join.

The final task of the WLATG with the help of a new specific committee was to oversee the design and construction of the new information board, which now proudly sits on the Lower Green.

A lot of people have worked hard to promote the group following its inception by the late Isabelle Paterson, and wholehearted thanks go to those who worked on the committee over the years.
